Patron Files Suit Against Atlantic City Casino

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "A casino patron who claimed another player at a poker table at Bally's Atlantic City lunged at him, grabbed him by the throat and ripped his shirt filed a federal lawsuit against the casino, police and several others.

"Samuel J. Lassoff, 30, a Philadelphia lawyer who filed the lawsuit on his own behalf, says he and his fiancee went to the casino Nov. 1, 2002, played blackjack for a few hours then sat down at a poker table.

"That was when Lassoff claims Brian R. Taylor, another casino patron sitting near him, attacked him and security officers did nothing to stop it.

"'My civil rights were violated,' Lassoff said Tuesday. 'When I go into a casino now, I just don't feel safe; like if anyone tries to take a swing at you, you just aren't protected.'

" He is seeking compensatory and punitive damages and attorney fees. He served a tort claim Dec. 10, notifying the city of his intent to sue…"
