Patrick Clarke wins Irish Open22 April 2014(PRESS RELEASE) -- Patrick Clarke took down the Irish Open 2014, Europe’s most prestigious poker tournament title yesterday, along with €250,000 prize-money. 47 places were paid in the Main Event, with cashes going to the likes of Gerard Harraghy, Chris Dowling, Dave Masters and the “Voice of Poker” Jesse May. Patrick Clarke’s first prize was actually €200,000 but it was nicely topped up in the form of €50,000 additional cash from the Paddy Power Poker Sole Survivor promotion. Online qualifiers were eligible to win the added money prize with 2nd to 6th finishing Sole Survivors (including runner-up Dave Pollock) receiving an entry into next year’s Irish Open Main Event worth €3,500. The Irish Open was, as always, more than its Main Event, with side events and other fun activities in the bar buzzing throughout the four day festival. It was a good weekend for the Farrell brothers too, with Niall Farrell winning €14,410 along with the Championship title of the Irish Open Mini (a €200 side event mirroring the Main but with half hour blind levels) and Ian Farrell taking down the €800 side event for another huge payday. Players in all events, from the Omaha to the €150 Scalps event, ranged from the seasoned veteran to those participating in their first live tournaments, but all had in common a love of the game in general, and this game, the Paddy Power Poker Irish Open, in particular. If you want to qualify for the Irish Open 2015 you can do so now. Qualifiers on Paddy Power Poker have started already this week so 2015 is guaranteed to be a huge success.
