Paskenta Tribal Government temporarily closes Rolling Hills Casino17 March 2020(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Tribal Council of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians have decided to temporarily close the Rolling Hills Casino in support of the efforts to help slow the spread of the growing coronavirus (COVID-19). This temporary closure will be effective from Wednesday March 18th until further notice based on a re-evaluation of the situation. The World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the State of California have all asked that we extend social distancing and reduce the gathering of larger groups. Paskenta Tribal leaders will continue to monitor the growth of the virus daily and make decisions based on the health and safety of their employees, Tribal Membership and the surrounding communities. During this closure, we will use the opportunity to do a very thorough cleaning of the facility so that we will be ready to welcome guests back as soon as possible. We will continue to keep the public and our guests informed throughout the closure period through Rollinghillscasino.com and through our social media channels. Importantly, our employees will continue to receive their full pay and benefits until March 31, 2020 at which point the situation will be re-evaluated. It is out of an abundance of caution that we make this very difficult decision but due to the nature of this pandemic, these measures are necessary for the health and safety of everyone. As a reminder, it is important that everyone do their part to help us all reduce the spread of this virus. The advice from public health authorities is simple and very important: Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Create social distancing in your personal space and limit personal contact as much as possible. If you are sick, stay home and seek medical attention if you experience symptoms. Avoid exposing others to a virus by covering your mouth and nose with a tissue (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing (or an elbow or shoulder if no tissue is available). “This Tribal Council has made tough decisions before to protect our membership and this community and we acknowledge our responsibility to the many employees, customers and community members in making this decision.” Says Andrew Alejandre, Tribal Chairman. “While we are closed, we will fully engage with our surrounding governments and communities in doing everything we can to help keep everyone safe.” Thank you for your patience and understanding and we look forward to seeing you all very soon. |
