Party Poker sponsors return of Poker for the Homeless at Grand Prix Killarney

25 August 2017

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Poker for the Homeless, the Irish fundraising organization dedicated to raising money for homeless charities around Ireland, today announces its return to activity, after a four-year hiatus, at the Party Poker Grand Prix Killarney.

The tournament, being held at the Gleneagles Hotel in Killarney on Sunday, 10 September, will raise funds for the Capuchin Day Centre in Dublin, which will receive two-thirds of the total donated and Pieta House, the Suicide and Self-Harm Crisis Centre, which will receive one-third.

Cards are in the air for the €100+€20 buy in game at 4 p.m., with late registration available to 6:15 p.m. Starting stack is 10,000 and blinds are 20 minutes. Rebuys/top-ups are available for €50. Players will receive another 10,000 chips for the rebuy. Tournament organizers, The Cue Club and Northern/Celtic Poker are donating the registration fee while sponsor Party Poker will match all rebuy/top-up donations.

Poker for the Homeless and Party Poker ambassador Padraig Parkinson, said, "Poker for the Homeless has been without a roof over its head for four years, and we're delighted to have finally found it a home again at Grand Prix Killarney.

"We all know the toll the recession has taken on Ireland and the housing crisis has added further to the problems the most vulnerable in society are facing.

"Over the last decade the Irish poker community, with the help of our many generous friends from abroad, has raised almost €250,000 for Irish homeless causes, and we'll pull together again to show our support for the amazing work these charities do on the frontline, day-in, day-out, giving desperate people hope."

The Poker for the Homeless Killarney event is supported by Party Poker, The Cue Club, Northern/Celtic Poker and Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club.
