Partnership Names Planned Strip Property22 November 2004Las Vegas Sun The partnership that is planning a condominium and resort on a U-shaped 8.5-acre parcel near the Jockey Club has announced new details, including the name of the project. The project has been named the Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino. Principals for 3700 Associates LLC said the $1.5 billion project will be larger than previously announced, with more than 4 million square feet, more than 2,400 units with a mix of condo-hotel and hotel rooms, more than 300,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space, a 70,000-square-foot casino and a 1,800-seat theater. Partners David Friedman -- a former assistant to Venetian developer Sheldon Adelson -- and real estate developer Ian Bruce Eichner are enthused that the Cosmopolitan, which will break ground in early 2005 and open in late 2007 or early 2008, will be neighbors with MGM Mirage's CityCenter project. Eichner said the design project for the Cosmopolitan will include Arquitectonica as the project architect, Dougall Design for retail and interior design work, The Friedmutter Group for hotel-casino design and Paul Duesing Partners for interior design work.
