Parliamentary clerk jailed over fraud1 October 2010LONDON, England -- A parliamentary clerk who doctored MPs' expenses to divert funds to his gambling habit has been jailed, the BBC reported. Andrew Gibson, 49, worked in the fees office of the British Houses of Parliament as a budget officer, the report explained. He had serious gambling debts and created false invoice claims on behalf of 3 retiring MPs paying the cash into the account of a man he owed gambling money to, the BBC reported. Gibson will serve 9 months in jail for the offence, according to the BBC. |
