Parkway Boosts Casino Business

CENTRAL CITY, Colorado – As reported by the Denver Post: 'This gambling town is seeing a boost in business since the Central City Parkway opened Nov. 19.

"Central City gaming officials credit the parkway, at least in part, for a 40 percent increase in their gaming revenue in December over the same month in 2003.

"The four-lane parkway hooks up with Interstate 70 at the Hidden Valley exit. The parkway was intended to provide an easy route to Central City, which was previously accessible primarily by Colorado 119 through the competing gaming town of Black Hawk.

"…'We are seeing increases at individual casinos,' said Joe Behm, president of the Central City Business Improvement District, which pushed for the road…"
