Parent Approve Las Vegas for Children22 April 2001LAS VEGAS –April 22, 2001—As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “…Of the 36 million visitors who came to Las Vegas last year, about 10 percent said they had someone younger than 21 in their group, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. ”While Las Vegas is widely recognized as an adult playground, Strip hotels in the past decade have tapped into the family market by providing more entertainment for children. ”There are video arcades, swimming pools, thrill rides, motion theater rides, virtual reality games and wild animal habitats. Most of the shows are now fit for kids. ”…Tiffany and Darren Snow of Los Angeles were keeping a close watch on their 15-month-old and 3 1/2-year-old toddlers at the Excalibur hotel arcade. ”…Darren Snow said he would have never thought about bringing children to Las Vegas 10 years ago, but now the town has become more "kid friendly." ”The Smiths of Seattle liked the water park at Mandalay Bay and the two older boys rode the Manhattan Express roller coaster at New York-New York. ”`Awesome,’ said 15-year-old Ian.`I like the atmosphere in Las Vegas.
