Paramore and Jimmy Eat World at Taj Mahal

21 February 2008

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- (PRESS RELEASE) -– Live Nation presents Paramore and Jimmy Eat World in The Mark G. Etess Arena at Taj Mahal on Friday, May 2, 2008. Doors will open at 7:00 pm with show time beginning at 8:00 pm.

Paramore is a Grammy-nominated band that formed in 2004. Paramore consists of Hayley Williams (lead vocals), Josh Farro (lead guitar), Jeremy Davis (bass guitar), and Zac Farro (drums).

Influenced by the likes of Jimmy Eat World and Sunny Day Real Estate, front woman Hayley Williams and lead guitarist Josh Farro are the group's primary songwriters. In 2005, the group released their debut album All We Know Is Falling, gaining a fan base through touring and internet promotion of the singles "Pressure" and "Emergency." By 2007, the band gained mainstream notoriety with their second album Riot! which was certified gold. The first single, "Misery Business" has received wide radio airplay and allowed for MTV to feature the band in Artist of the Week segments during August 2007. The band has received coast-to-coast acclaim with a recent Grammy nomination for "Best New Artist" as well as with a variety of national publications. Once a trailblazing name in the mid-'90s 'emocore' scene, Jimmy Eat World steadily rose to national prominence by embracing a blend of alternative rock and power pop that targeted the heart as well as the head. While the band's influence widened considerably with 1999's Clarity — an album that has since emerged as a landmark of the emo genre — it was the band's self-produced follow-up (specifically the infectious single "The Middle") that crowned them as major figures in commercial rock. The emo label proved difficult to shake throughout the 2000s, even when subsequent albums Futures and Chase This Light did little to evoke the hard-edged sensitivity of Clairty, but Jimmy Eat World nevertheless remained a league above the generation of emocore torch-bearers they'd helped influence.

Jimmy Eat World consists of Jim Adkins (lead vocals/guitar), Tom Linton (guitar/vocals), Rick Burch (bass) and Zach Lind (drums). Visit Jimmyeatworld.com.

Tickets are priced at $35.00, for general admission standing and reserved seating. Tickets will go on sale Saturday, February 23, 2008 at noon.
