Palms' Slots Leave You Smiling19 June 2002LAS VEGAS – As reported by the Associated Press: “Planning to take a chance in Las Vegas anytime soon? Here's a tip: The best rate of return on video-nickel slots is at the Palms Casino Resort, where gamblers get a 93.4-cent rate of return. ”The worst? The Venetian, where the rate of return is about 7 cents less. That's according to Michael Shackleford, a casino consultant who this month wrote a study comparing payouts of video slots at 71 Las Vegas casinos. ”…Over at the Venetian, a spokesman says the findings are only for its video-nickel slots--not all of its machines--and that the casino is `very competitive’ with other Vegas properties. ”…Though Shackleford says the ethical integrity of the survey is beyond reproach--even some of his own clients ranked low on the list- -he says he would have liked a larger sample size…” |
