Palm Beach Kennel Club presents third-round action for $50k He's My Man Classic18 January 2017(PRESS RELEASE) -- Palm Beach Kennel Club presents third-round action for the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic Wednesday afternoon, 18 January. Following two rounds of point earnings, the original field of 72 hopefuls has been reduced to 32 athletes, all willing and eager to make it to the top 16. Amazingly, out of an original field of a record-setting 72 Greyhounds and 18 qualifying events, there are no Greyhounds entering round three with an unblemished record. Yes, that translates into 18 different athletes scoring one qualifying win! Match ups on Wednesday afternoon’s stake-qualifying card include: Race 10 looks to be a free-for-all! The wagering favorite will most likely be #4 Janice Dean (Rhythmless – Audra Barkley, Brindle Kennel). The Weather Machine ran an exceptional effort in her round-two victory, but faces a myriad of potential threats, especially from #8 CBJ Tootsie Roll (Gable Sour Cream – CBJ Choc O Lat, Royal Racing Team) who is in a great post to at least finish in-the money and continue to the semifinals. Race 12 doesn’t appear to be any easier to handicap. You have two Greyhounds set up perfectly in the sleek forms of #1 Big Red Dog (Rhythmless – KB’s La Bella, Rader Racing) and #8 Ice Buster (Kiowa Mon Manny – Outshineeveryone, James Douglas). Add to that, the outstanding early speed and strong rushing abilities of #3 Hilco Agnes (Kiowa Mon Manny – Super C Angeline, B & B Racing), #4 Hot Prospect Gal (Last Outlaw – Flaring Fiesta, Arthur Agganis), #5 NB’s Incredible (Gable Sour Cream – CBJ Cocoa, Royal Racing Team) and #6 O Ya Sunflower (Gold Town* - O Ya Aunt Bea, Lester Raines). The talent in this race alone could be its own stake race! Stunning! There is no doubt that the public’s choice in Race 14 will be the amazing #5 Whirlin Toodlelu (Djays Octane – Loud Linda, James Douglas). Her stunning round-two victory was a text book example of a perfectly run race! And sitting between two of the races slower breakers will be a big benefit. Wrapping up the afternoon in Race 15, all eyes will be on the popular brother duo of #2 Barts Big Bang (Pat C Clement – Barts Magpie, James Douglas) and #4 Bartsrocktheboat. Both are known for their strong rush to the first turn and their impeccable finishing kick. Also, they are amongst the leading point earners with each scoring first and second-place finishes in rounds one and two. The top 16 point earners following Wednesday’s third round will advance to the Classic semifinals Sunday afternoon, 22 January. The elite eight will move on the finale of the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic Saturday afternoon, 28 January. The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic is the first event in Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $150,000 “Big 3" Stakes series, which includes the $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby (Saturday afternoon, 25 February) and the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational (Saturday afternoon, 18 March). The Classic is named for Palm Beach Kennel Club racing legend and the track’s first multimedia sensation He’s My Man and dedicated to the man who raised and trained “Roscoe,” Bill Pappas. |
