Palm Beach Kennel Club honors season's kennel champions13 July 2016(PRESS RELEASE) -- One could compare it to David beating Goliath. Or if one were into pop culture, you could compare it to the World Wrestling Entertainment's Wrestlemania 30, where the The Undertaker was going for his 22nd-straight mania victory. His opponent that night was the "Beast" Brock Lesner. In front of a shocked crowd Lesner put an end to "The Deadman's" streak. For the 2015/16 season kennel championship, you could say B & B Racing Kennel gave a few brutal F-5's to eleven-consecutive-time Kennel Champion Rader Racing. B & B Racing Kennel, owned by long-time operator Bernie McClellan, racked up an impressive record of 5562 starts, 905 wins, 748 seconds, 673 thirds and 645 fourths. Also honored were two 2015/16 season Palm Beach Kennel Club Poker Room track champions, Janie Carroll Kennel's Ethel Is Here, the winner of the $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby' an entry in the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick's Invitational and the holder of the Pat C Rendezvous 3/8ths Mile Course track record (37.13 seconds), and Suncoast Racing Kennel's Atascocita Camry, who was a finalist in the Derby and the runner-up in the St. Pat's Invitational. Each of these superstar athletes scored 28 season wins and became the first Greyhounds since 2005 to win the championship with the majority of their races contested on the 660-Yard Pat C Rendezvous Three-Eighths Mile Course. The award presentation took place on the track after Race 8. |
