20 August 2013

ONCHAN, Isle of Man -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Over $10,665,000 in prize money was won during FTOPS XXIII, smashing the combined guarantees by more than $2,600,000. In its last three days alone, the series awarded a huge $4,285,000 to players.

On Sunday, the Main Event easily surpassed its guarantee, with a total prize pool of almost $2 million generated by 3,327 entrants. After this massive field was reduced to three, the remaining players opted to make a deal, ensuring big paydays all round. Winning more than $300,000, “DiaperSniper14” took the biggest portion of the prize pool, “Itahaschi” earned over $270,000 and “MarkusG” finished up with $234,000. The final three played on after the negotiations concluded, with “Itahaschi” capturing the Main Event title.

Another highlight, the $2,000 + $100 Two-Day Event started Saturday with a $1,198,000 prize pool. Of the 599 players who took part, “sexystuff1989” came out on top to win a huge $253,000.

Event #38 on Sunday – a No Limit Hold’em Knockout tournament – attracted 3,088 players to create a $617,400 prize pool. The last player standing was “DownByDaBridge,” who triumphed to win over $107,000 for a first place finish.

Earlier in the weekend, “x13full” earned $59,000 in Saturday’s Event #37 – a No Limit Hold’em Rush tournament with a total prize pool of $241,000. On Friday, Event #33’s winner, “Pessagno,” won over $31,000 in the No Limit Hold’em tournament, while later that day, “luckyssstrike” won more than $10,000 for coming first in the 7-Stud Hi/Lo Event #34.
