Ottumwa Casino Application Gets Support

OTTUMWA, Iowa – As reported by Ottumwa Courier: "Wild Rose Ottumwa got a remarkable vote of confidence Thursday in a bid to get the city's casino application a second chance.

"Gov. Tom Vilsack came out in support of re-evaluation of Ottumwa's license.

"Spokeswoman Jennifer Mullin said Vilsack supports having the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission review Ottumwa's application a second time.

"…Mullin said Vilsack is not attempting to intervene in the issue or otherwise order the commission to take a specific course of action. But, he specifically voiced support for a second look at the city's application. Iowa's Racing and Gaming Commission on Wednesday granted four licenses for new casinos.

"Ottumwa was not on the list. Supporters vowed to explore all available options for getting the commission to re-evaluate its decision on Ottumwa.

"…Wild Rose Entertainment Spokeswoman Jamie Buelt said the company is considering its options…"
