Oregon casino study results expected soon

VANCOUVER, Oregon – As reported by the Oregonian: "A key federal Bureau of Indian Affairs document examining a proposed Cowlitz Indian Tribe casino near La Center, Wash., is expected to be completed by the end of this month, a bureau official said last week.

"The bureau's regional office in Portland would then submit that environmental impact statement to the bureau's central office in Washington, D.C., said Gerald Henrikson, the regional bureau manager overseeing the Cowlitz project.

"…Federal officials predicted last year that a final decision could be made by this spring.

"…Long-range plans call for a casino, hotel and resort near La Center, about 15 miles north of Vancouver."
