Orange County Sees Reversal of Fortune

FRENCH LICK, Indiana – (PRESS RELEASE) — Within the past year, Orange County casino supporters have seen a dramatic reversal of fortune in their effort to revive gambling in the area.

"Last summer they were banking on a Donald Trump company that virtually everyone knew was headed for bankruptcy court — a company that ultimately withdrew from the project.

"Today, however, they can boast of casino investors with financial clout and a $240million plan that most think has a chance of reviving the dismal local economy.

"…The Indiana Gaming Commission will meet Thursday in French Lick to tap an investment group led by billionaire industrialist Bill Cook of Bloomington as the developer of the state's 11th casino.

"Cook and an Indianapolis real estate developer, the Lauth Group, have more than doubled the size of the project proposed last July by Trump's casino company.

"Plans by the partnership, called Blue Sky Casino LLC, include the restoration of the two historic hotels at French Lick and West Baden…"
