Orange County Commission Supports Casino Plan

FRENCH LICK, Indiana – As reported by the Louisville, Kentucky Courier-Journal: "Members of a local commission guiding the development of an Orange County casino unanimously approved a recommendation yesterday for the state to award the contract to a partnership led by a Bloomington-based medical device manufacturer.

"The partnership -- which involves the Cook Group Inc. of Bloomington and the Indianapolis real-estate developer Lauth Group Inc. -- is the only applicant for Indiana's 11th and final casino.

"The hotel preservation commission's meeting came in advance of an Indiana Gaming Commission hearing in French Lick later this month at which the operator will be formally chosen.

"The local commission also approved plans for the casino's exterior and location, beside the French Lick Springs Resort Hotel.

"No one raised concerns, and several residents thanked company executives for believing in the community…"
