Opposition rising to Syrian casino14 January 2011DAMASCUS, Syria -- A Syrian economist has added his voice to mounting dissent over a recently opened Syrian casino, according to The National. Nabil Sukkar said there was no "national interest" in the casino staying open, that it would neither increase tourism nor provide tax revenue, The National said. It looks likely that a parliamentary process will attempt to close the casino, once parliament returns from its recess, the report noted. |
