Ontario: Program enables gamblers to get help

23 March 2011

SUDBURY, Ontario -- Instead of attending a casino to add themselves to the excluded gamblers list, a new Sudbury program encourages gamblers to visit the hospital, where a Problem Gambling program can put them on the exclusion list and help them, the Sudbury Star reported.

A partnership between the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and Sudbury Regional Hospital is in place to inform people about the program, the report said.

The aim to is relieve some of the stigma involved for people admitting they have a gambling problem and making it easier for them to seek help, according to the Sudbury Star report.
