Ontario Casino Plans Considered

21 October 2005

ONTARIO – As reported by the Campbellford Community Press: "Brenda Otto, the Community Development Officer for Trent Hills, outlined a project this week for boosting the economy in Campbellford.

"According to Otto, Mayor Hector Macmillan brought the idea to the Economic Development Committee about a year ago and she is now initiating a feasibility study on the idea. The mayor wants to see whether a riverboat casino and hotel complex would benefit the town.

"Trent Hills has been positioning itself as a lifestyle and tourism destination and the municipality is trying to develop opportunities for business attraction, retention and growth in that area.

"Otto's new study will attempt to identify the competitive advantages for such an operation in Campbellford. She is also studying the viability of locating the complex on municipal waterfront land at the new Campbellford Business Park, currently under development.

"…The study is expected to be completed by the end of January.
