One-year jail term in lottery scam called inadequate

Hafiz Malik, a store owner, was jailed for a year for fraud, the report said.

Malik kept the group ticket, telling them it was worth $10, The Globe report said.

He then claimed the ticket winnings, which were actually worth $5.75 million, as his own, according to the Globe and Mail.

The winners finally received their money in 2007, the report noted.
