One ticket wins $46 million California Lottery jackpot

28 November 2007

ACRAMENTO, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- It has only been three days since California Lottery officials drew the winning number combination of 8, 12, 21, 31, 39 and 25 (MEGA Number), but the winner has not yet come forward! The single winning ticket for the $46 million jackpot was purchased at ARCO #9636 at 2354 East Palmdale Boulevard in Palmdale, CA, it is not yet known if that ticket is owned by a single winner or a group.

Lottery officials are asking for your help to find California's latest multi-millionaire! Given the numbers were drawn on Thanksgiving weekend, the winner could be a visitor who was there to spend some time with their family, or someone merely passing through the area.

The California Lottery also wants to remind players to sign the back of their tickets and if players find they are a winner, please put the ticket in a safe place and contact Lottery officials or visit the local Lottery District Office immediately. Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize.

Local businesses win, too! The Lottery retailer who sold this winning ticket, ARCO #9636 will receive a bonus of $230,000 for selling the winning ticket.

Over 95 cents of every Lottery dollar is returned to the community in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retail commissions. The California Lottery contributes at least 34 cents of every dollar that players spend on Lottery products to public education and returns more than 50 percent of sales to players in the form of prizes. Since its inception in 1985, the Lottery has contributed more than $19.6 billion to California schools out of total sales of more than $53.25 billion. Retailers win too, earning $3.4 billion in compensation since 1985.
