One Ticket Wins $130 Million Mega Millions Jackpot

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- One ticket matched all six Mega Millions numbers in the Tuesday, January 18, 2005 drawing, and now players are checking their tickets to see who won the estimated $130 million jackpot. The jackpot-winning ticket, which was purchased in Washington, Georgia, matched the numbers 10-23-28-39-51 and the Mega Ball number 05.

But the holder of that winning ticket is not the only Mega Millions winner in Tuesday's drawing. Nearly 900,000 tickets won prizes ranging from $2 all the way up to the jackpot. That includes 23 tickets that came within just one number of hitting the jackpot. They matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number to each win $175,000. Those tickets were sold in Georgia (2), Illinois (2), Michigan (1), New Jersey (3), New York (3), Ohio (2) and Washington (10). There were also 54 tickets that matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball number to each win $5,000.

The jackpot for the Friday, January 21, 2005 Mega Millions drawing is $10 million.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
