One Ticket Wins $112 Million Jackpot

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- One ticket in the Tuesday, March 1, 2005 Mega Millions drawing won it all. That single ticket, which was purchased in Rowlett, Texas, matched all six numbers to win a jackpot estimated at $112 million.

The winning numbers were 01-08-18-39-48 and the Mega Ball number 01.

Mega Millions fever has been building for the past few weeks. And Mega Millions didn't disappoint, with more than 785,000 winning tickets able to claim prizes from Tuesday's drawing alone. The holders of eight tickets can each lay claim to the second prize of $175,000. Those tickets matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were sold in Illinois (2), Massachusetts (2), Maryland (1), New Jersey (2) and Virginia (1).

The Mega Millions jackpot is now $10 million for the Friday, March 4, 2005 drawing.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Officials in California have announced plans to join the fun later this year.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
