One Ticket Wins $105 Million Jackpot

UNITED STATES – (Press Release) -- Mega Millions is on a hot streak. For the third time in less than two months, the game has produced another mega jackpot winner! One ticket in the Friday, April 9, 2004 drawing matched all six numbers to win the estimated $105 million jackpot. The ticket was sold in Kensington, Maryland. This jackpot win also comes just one week after the $239 million Virginia winners from the February 20 drawing came forward to claim their prize.

Friday's winning Mega Millions numbers were 02-08-10-11-23 and the Mega Ball number was 40.

The jackpot winner is one of 763,624 tickets that won prizes in Friday's drawing. That includes 22 tickets that came within just one number of hitting the jackpot. Each of these tickets missed only the last Mega Ball number to win Mega Millions' second prize of $175,000. These winning tickets were sold in Georgia (1), Illinois (1), Maryland (1), Michigan (2), New Jersey (5), New York (8), Ohio (3), and Virginia (1).

Even without the jackpot winner, players won $8,396,369 in Mega Millions' eight other prize levels in Friday's drawing. The jackpot for the Tuesday, April 13, 2004 Mega Millions drawing starts back at $10 million.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington State. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time, and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
