Oktoberfest series breaks PKR records16 November 2012LONDON -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Next-gen poker room PKR.com’s recent online tournament series, Oktoberfest, concluded last weekend having drawn larger crowds than in any previous year. Run across 16 days, PKR’s Oktoberfest featured 51 events in a variety of formats with buy-ins ranging from $3.50 to $270. More than 22,000 players took to the site’s unique virtual felt in search of an Oktoberfest title and a share of the $479,522 in prize money – smashing expectations by more than $150,000. The festival’s biggest prize was won by Swedish player "SmackCrackMC," who collected $16,447 for victory in the Oktoberfest PKR Masters, a $270 buy-in deep stack tournament whose 340 entrants created a prize pool of $85,000. PKR also added $3,500 in tournament tickets as leaderboard prizes that rewarded the top 100 players for their performance across the whole festival. The top two players in each category will also battle it out this Sunday evening in a six-seat winner-take-all Sit & Go "Champions Freeroll" with a $3,000 WPT National Dublin package at stake. PKR Marketing Director Simon Prodger believes variety and suitable buy-in levels are the secrets to the festival’s success. “With three identical events each day for low, mid and higher stakes, every single player on PKR could find something to suit their taste and bankroll. We’re delighted with the high turnout and look forward to providing more of the same over the Christmas period with our next tournament series. And with our fun range of avatar costumes and themed environments, it’s a period when PKR really comes into its own.”
