Oklahoma tribal casinos lead nation19 August 2008OKLAHOMA -- As reported by the Oklahoman: "Gamblers spent more than $2.4 billion at Oklahoma's tribal casinos in 2007, according to a national industry report released Monday. "Despite a slowing economy that limited industry revenue growth to 4.9 percent, revenue at Oklahoma's Indian gaming locations jumped by a nation-leading 22.3 percent. "In fact, Oklahoma accounted for more than one-third of the combined revenue growth among the 28 Indian gaming states, said Alan Meister, an economist with Analysis Group. "...Meister noted that Oklahoma tribes built five new casinos last year, added more than 4,600 electronic machines and ranked third in total gambling revenue among Indian gaming states. He said Oklahoma is poised to overtake Connecticut this year for second place in revenue..." |
