Oklahoma tribal casinos change games

OKLAHOMA -- As reported by the Muskogee Phoenix: "Visitors to area Indian casinos will see a difference in Class II gaming machines, but it will be awhile in coming.

"Those partial to Class II machines (based on bingo cards) won't be able to win as fast — or lose as fast, confirmed Jamie Hummingbird.

"Hummingbird is the Cherokee Nation Gaming director and a member of the Tribal Advisory Commission, which is giving input to the National Indian Gaming Commission on its proposed changes to further differentiate Class II and Class III machines.

"Any revisions will include a grandfather clause to give tribes a year to comply, according to gaming officials.

"...Technological aspects of the machines, internal controls, will change. The electronic sophistication of many Class II games make them appear similar to Class III games, and the NIGC wants to change that.

"All Class II games will have to display a bingo card, said Ferrell Kaaihue, manager of Creek Nation Muscogee Casino. The bingo card will be more prevalent after the changes to Class II machines are made..."
