Oklahoma Casino Tribes Ordered to Hand Over Records

CONCHO, Oklahoma – As reported by the Oklahoman: "The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes have been ordered to hand over financial records to a federal grand jury, The Oklahoman has learned.

"Subpoenas issued the last week of May require documents to be delivered by June 15, when the grand jury next convenes in Oklahoma City.

"Documents requested indicate the grand jury will examine how tribal officials spent casino profits and possibly other income sources, such as state motor fuels.

"…The FBI and the National Indian Gaming Commission are investigating allegations that elected tribal officials squandered casino profits on themselves and favored constituents and workers.

"Untold thousands of dollars went toward vehicles and trips, many of them to Las Vegas, financial records show…"
