Oklahoma casino poll results released9 February 2007OKLAHOMA – As reported by Tulsa World: "The parking lots may be full and the money coming in faster than can be counted, but most Oklahomans say they've never visited one of the 90 tribal casinos in the state. "…Statewide, the share of Oklahomans who say they've visited the state's tribal casinos has increased by almost 6 percentage points since June 2005. Furthermore, those who do go are going more often and may be spending more money when they do. "The poll's consultant, Al Soltow, the vice president of research at the University of Tulsa, said the share of those with 20 or more casino visits increased from 9 percent of casino gamblers in 2005 to 14 percent in the January poll. For the same period, Soltow noted a 'significant decline' of those who said they had been to a casino only once and little change of those who make two to 20 visits. "…[Among] those who gamble, more than 70 percent said they spend less than $50 per casino visit and more than 90 percent said they spend less than $100. Ninety percent of lottery players said they spend less than $5 a week on tickets. "Also, low-income respondents were no more likely to buy lottery tickets or go to casinos, or to spend more when they did…" |
