Ohio Ticket Wins Mega Millions Jackpot

OHIO – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Friday, January 6th Mega Millions drawing created excitement from coast to coast! But someone in Norwalk, Ohio will begin this New Year with a $15 million prize! One ticket successfully matched all five numbers plus the Mega Ball to win the estimated $15 million jackpot. This is the first winning Mega Millions jackpot winner in 2006.

The game generated even more excitement Friday as a total of 399,299 tickets won Mega Millions prizes, including four tickets that each won $250,000. As a result of the jackpot getting hit, the jackpot for the Tuesday, January 10, 2006 Mega Millions drawing will be an estimated $12 million. The four tickets that each won $250,000 did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in California, Illinois and New York (2). The last Mega Millions prize, worth $88 million, was won Friday December 30th in California.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
