Ohio Councilwoman Wants Casino Decision Repealed

LORAIN, Ohio – As reported by the Morning Journal: "Lorain City Councilwoman Anne Molnar, D-at large, made a motion last night to repeal an ordinance council approved March 7 allowing Mayor Craig Foltin to enter into an option agreement with the Eastern Shawnee tribe to buy lakefront property for a casino.

"However, last night, Foltin urged council to keep the 'status quo' to keep the city at the forefront to possibly obtain Class III gaming, or casino-style gambling in the state.

"Council held a two-hour executive session to discuss the issue last night after Foltin updated the Federal Programs Committee on the proposed purchase option agreement between the city and the tribe, which had a June 1 signing deadline.

"…Council agreed to review more information before it would make a decision; however, Lorain Law Director Mark Provenza said he didn't believe that the ordinance council approved on March 7 could be repealed…"
