Official Surprised by Lack of Action Against Bookie

INDIA – As reported by the Indo-Asian News: "An International Cricket Council (ICC) official on Friday expressed surprise that Delhi Police have not taken any action three months after the body provided information against a bookie allegedly involved in match fixing with some "world-renowned" cricketers.

"…The official said the ICC's anti-corruption and security unit (ACSU) passed on details of suspected bookie Rattan Mehta to police in February.

"Documents signed by ACSU Chief Investigator and General Manager Jeffrey Rees were given to Delhi Police but no action has been taken in the past four months.

"…The letter claimed Mehta had sought to fix several international matches and believed he might be luring cricketers to throw away matches even now.

"…In the documents, the ACSU has talked about Mehta's 'connections' in Dubai and with cricketers found to have been involved in match fixing in the past…"
