Official: Niagara should get more slots money22 June 2007NEW YORK -- As reported by the Niagara Gazette: "A Seneca Gaming Corporation executive said Thursday said he believes more of the state's share of slot machine revenue should be sent back to Niagara Falls. "That Niagara Falls has not been able to do in the tourism industry what Niagara Falls, Ontario, has done is almost shameful or embarrassing, said Rajat R. Shah, senior vice president of corporate development. "...The state has received about $160 million in shared slot machine revenue from the Nation's two casinos from 2003 through 2005. Under an agreement granting the Senecas exclusive rights to operate casinos in Western New York, 25 percent of the state's share is turned over to local officials..." |
