Oakland Mayor Attends Tribal Casino Meetings

OAKLAND, California – As reported by the CBS 5 TV: "Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown said today that he's had some "very preliminary'' meetings with representatives of Indian tribes about the possibility of allowing a casino in Oakland.

"Brown stressed that he wouldn't bring a casino to Oakland if the public didn't support the idea, acknowledging that there are 'different views'' on the subject.

"But he said he would entertain the possibility of allowing gambling in Oakland if casino operators offered thousands of jobs and the possibility of bringing in $20 million in revenues to the city annually…"
