NY tribe ordered to ban BYOB practice29 October 2007NEW YORK -- As reported by the Oneida Daily Dispatch: "The state is threatening to stop issuing third-party liquor licenses unless the Nation prohibits its guests from bringing alcohol to restaurants, and concerts. "Private outside caterers apply to the State Liquor Authority to serve alcohol at individual events held on Nation property, such as conventions, weddings and banquets because the Nation itself does not have a liquor license. "...While William Crowley, the Authority's communication director did not say the state was making threats. "'Permit applications by third party caterers at Turning Stone are reviewed in the same way as any other applications, on a case-by-case basis consistent with the law, and they're going to be continued to be reviewed and issued that way,' he said.
