NY Company Gambles on Ontario Casino

WOODSTOCK, Ontario – As reported by the London Free Press: "A New York-based holding company could be bucking insurmountable odds in a proposal for a Woodstock hotel-casino.

"First Guardian Financial Corp. says it plans to take part in a joint venture for a hotel-casino on 20 hectares of Woodstock land.

"…First Guardian's release said it would invest as much as $3 million to buy land for the project.

"First Guardian would be the majority partner, the release said, controlling 51 per cent of the enterprise or more.

"For such a casino project to go ahead, existing law would have to be overhauled, said Don Pister of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp…"
