November Las Vegas Visitor Volume Flat

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Jan. 12, 2001 --The 2.9 million visitors who came to Las Vegas in November about matched the number reported in November 1999, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported today.

The occupancy level at local resorts was down 1 percentage point to 86.4 percent while convention attendance was flat, as the number of conventions was down 3 percent to 293 for the month.

The November figures brought the 2000 visitor volume to 33.1 million, an increase of 5.8 percent over the first 11 months of 1999.

Visitation was off 16.6 percent to Mesquite and 0.4 percent to Laughlin. Occupancy rates were down 7.9 points to 68.5 percent in Mesquite, but up 2.2 points to 90 percent in Laughlin.

The LVCVA also reported that automobile traffic to Las Vegas from Southern California was up 9.1 percent for the month, to 525,634 vehicles.
