November 2024 iGaming in Michigan sets record

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a combined $284.3 million total internet gaming gross receipts and gross sports betting receipts in November. Gross receipts increased 12.1% compared to last month.

Monthly Gross Receipts
November iGaming gross receipts totaled $226.0 million, the highest to date. The previous high was $220.7 million recorded in October 2024. November gross sports betting receipts totaled $58.3 million, which is an increase from the $33.0 million recorded in October.

Monthly Adjusted Gross Receipts
Combined total iGaming and internet sports betting adjusted gross receipts for November were $240.4 million, including $203.3 million from iGaming and $37.1 million from internet sports betting — representing an iGaming increase of 2.4% and a sports betting increase of $27.2 million when compared to last month. Compared to November 2023, iGaming AGR was up by 28.9% and sports betting was up by $36.8 million.

Monthly Handle
Total November internet sports betting handle of $650.2 million was up by 16.0% from the $560.4 million handle recorded in October 2024. November’s handle is the highest online sports betting handle reported to date.

Monthly State Taxes/Payments
The operators reported submitting $44.4 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan during November, of which:

- iGaming taxes and fees = $42.5 million
- Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $1.9 million

Monthly City of Detroit Taxes/Payments
The three Detroit casinos reported paying the City of Detroit $11.2 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees during November, of which:

- iGaming taxes and fees = $10.6 million
- Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $564,069

Monthly Tribal Operators’ Payments
Tribal operators reported making $5.2 million in payments to governing bodies in November.

As of November 2024, a total of 15 commercial and tribal operators have been authorized to launch iGaming and/or internet sports betting. Currently, 12 commercial and tribal operators offer internet sports betting, and 15 operators offer iGaming.
