Nova Scotia VLTs reveal playing habits

NEW BRUNSWICK – As reported by the Times & Transcript: "Video lottery terminal players in Nova Scotia will soon have to face the facts.

"Early next year, the Nova Scotia Gaming Control Commission will install devices on all of the province's 2,200 VLTs that will reveal a player's spending habits and playing tendencies on the machines.

"A spokesman for New Brunswick's Department of Finance said yesterday there are no immediate plans to introduce the 'informed player's choice system' in this province, but officials will be monitoring the Nova Scotia program closely.

"Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for the Atlantic Lottery Commission, which manages all gaming activity in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador, said information will be shared with all four provinces.

"…Players will apply for their cards then be required to use them. By April 2010, all VLT players in Nova Scotia will be legally required to have the cards in order to play the games…"
