Nova Scotia Premier to Cut VLTs23 March 2005NOVA SCOTIA – As reported by the Halifax Herald: "Premier John Hamm says the province will take some video lottery terminals out of service to help combat 'a very, very terrible issue here in Nova Scotia.' "The province will undertake a 'program of some technical changes and some reductions of the machines and the locations of the machines,' the premier said Monday. "…But there were no details from him or his staff on how many machines would go, which locations would lose them or when it would happen. "…Mr. Hamm said earlier Monday that it's better for the province to regulate gambling and have VLT revenue help pay for health care and education, rather than create an environment for illegal machines…" |
