North Korean casinos close for period of mourning23 December 2011NORTH KOREA -- North Korea's Emperor Hotel & Casino has closed temporarily out of respect and in keeping with the national mourning of Jim Jong II, Bloomberg reported. The casino is owned by Albert Yeung, a Hong Kong businessman, who also owns hotels, the report said. North Korea is holding "mourning events" following Kim Jong II's death earlier this week, Bloomberg reported. North Korean casinos intend to attract Chinese gamblers and are situated in "economic zones" close to the northeastern provinces of China, Bloomberg noted. |
