North Dakota Joins Powerball26 March 2004NORTH DAKOTA – As reported by the Grand Forks Herald: "Sisters Loretta Knopke and Beverly Steen have bought lottery tickets from states across the country, so it seemed fitting that they were on hand when the first lottery ticket was sold in Grand Forks at 11 a.m. Thursday. "'After four statewide votes and amending the state constitution, we have probably the most technologically advanced lottery system in the United States,' said attorney general Wayne Stenehjem at the Grand Forks ceremony. "…North Dakota's lottery debut was one for the record books. "Powerball lottery tickets went on sale at 390 sites around the state late Thursday morning.
