North Carolina releases July 2026 sports wagering revenue report

28 August 2026

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The North Carolina State Lottery Commission is releasing its sports wagering revenue report for July 2026. It compiles the revenue for the month as submitted by licensed interactive sports betting operators.

Between 1-31 July, account holders in North Carolina wagered $566,349,683 on sporting events, including paid and promotional wagers. From those wagers, account holders won $498,728,763.

State law levies a 23% tax on the gross wagering revenue generated by sports betting activity. Gross wagering revenue is the total amount of sports wagers (including bonuses or promotional credits) received by an interactive sports wagering operator, less the amounts paid as winnings before any deductions for expenses, fees or taxes.

In July, the gross wagering revenue was $63,215,572. After the 23% tax rate is applied, the estimated tax proceeds for the month would be $14,038,810. This is the amount the N.C. Department of Revenue collects from sports wagering.
