Newest Las Vegas Hotel-Casino Opens Sept. 12

Officials originally hoped to open the locals' oriented property Friday, but that date was not firm and the goal was too ambitious.

The Suncoast opens Sept. 12 in suburban Las Vegas.

Coast officials likely want to avoid situations like those experienced by the Venetian and Aladdin resorts in which visitors arrived at the scheduled opening times only to find the casinos not yet open because of last-minute work and testing.

"Although we have successfully met all of our construction deadlines, we still must fulfill the requirements of fire/life safety testing. These extra few days will help us fine-tune a few things and give our customers a property that exceeds their expectations," said Coast Chairman Michael Gaughan.
