New Zealanders Betting on South Africa

NEW ZEALAND – As reported by the New Zealand Herald: "New Zealanders may be supporting the All Blacks with their hearts, but they are picking South Africa with their wallets in tonight's World Cup quarter-final.

"By last night 70 per cent of the total TAB betting pool of $200,000 (US$123,496) had been placed on South Africa.

"Senior TAB bookie Kevin Gutschlag said that over the past couple of days an avalanche of money had been bet on South Africa to win tonight's match in Melbourne.

"…`The All Blacks are favoured to win the game but our punters are actually betting on South Africa, which is really strange. So much for being patriots,' he said.
