New Zealand Punter Loses Big

NEW ZEALAND – As reported by the New Zealand Stuff: "A rugby punter has taken a bigger hit than a front-row forward, losing tens of thousands of dollars during the IRB International Sevens Tournament in Wellington.

"The unidentified man is understood to have made several big wagers and lost $50,000 on one bet alone – that Argentina would finish within 21 points of New Zealand in the final.

"The gambler's hunger for a big payoff bit the dust when Argentina's Santiago Gomez Cora was sent off for sinking his teeth into Tamati Ellison's stomach as he lay on the ground after a tackle.

"…TAB bookie Mark Stafford said several people made multiple four-figure bets on games during the tournament, with the weekend's take of $350,000 being about five times as much as last year's…"
