New Zealand Horse Doping, Gambling Scandal Deepens

NEW ZEALAND – As reported by the New Zealand Stuff: "Police have charged a Canterbury man with selling a performance-boosting drug, as inquiries into horse doping and gambling deepen.

"The man is accused of supplying 'blue magic', the substance that has provoked controversy in harness racing.

"The development comes as officials delve into TAB records for evidence of betting plunges on horses that may have been doped.

"…Urine tests ordered by Horse Racing New Zealand (HRNZ) have so far returned only one positive swab to propantheline bromide, the active ingredient in blue magic…"
