New Zealand gambling levy proposal slammed

NEW ZEALAND – As reported by the The leader of the United Future Party is slamming moves by the Health Ministry to increase the gambling levy.

"Peter Dunne says there is no compelling evidence that problem gambling is linked to gaming machines.

"Mr Dunne says the problem gambling levy is more an envy tax than anything else.

"…He says all the gaming issues should be brought under the control of the Gambling Commission and it should be split from the Department of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health because they are simply meddling…"
