New York Village Opposes Casino Plans

NEW YORK – As reported by the Mid-Hudson News: "The Saugerties Village Board last night voted to oppose the proposed Native American casino at Winston Farm as well as any other casinos that might be proposed in all of Ulster County.

"…[Mayor Robert Yerick] is concerned about the potential to destroy the sense of community and negatively impact the tourism trade that is drawn to the area because of its quaint character.

"…The Ulster County Legislature has on its agenda for Thursday a resolution that would allow municipalities to, in effect, have first say on casinos…"
